University researchers, working in collaboration with scientists at the USDA, have developed tests that can rapidly detect the bacteria that causes Johne’s disease, a chronic wasting disease found in cattle. Vivek Kapur, a faculty member of the Medical School and College of Veterinary Medicine explains what Johne’s disease is.
