When studying the natural world, it's difficult for scientists to control their experiments while at the whim of Mother Nature. That's why, on the banks of the Mississippi River, University of Minnesota St. Anthony Falls Laboratory researchers have built a state-of-the art environmental research facility - the Outdoor StreamLab.
