Electronically connecting Minnesotans with health care

Finding the right doctor at a local clinic continues to be a challenge for Minnesotans. Now, help is on the way with the University of Minnesota's new My Health Minnesota - Go Local – a free web-based resource that connects consumers with the proper health service. Linda Watson, from the U's Health Sciences Libraries, is working on the project.

"Car Sharing" the gas price burden

The summer months entice Minnesotans to hit the road and see the country, but they can also bring painful prices at the pump. Lee Munnich, a senior fellow at the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, has studied driver behavior and says, that despite the increases, drivers are too attached to their vehicles to significantly change their commuting means. Munnich recommends public car sharing, a system that is used at the U of M and across the country.

TCF Bank Stadium Construction Begins

Last week, the University of Minnesota officially broke ground for TCF Bank Stadium. President Robert Bruininks was there to welcome the official start of construction and explain what an on-campus stadium means to Minnesota. Coach Tim Brewster was also on hand to excite fans and outline the vision of the future home of the Golden Gophers.

Summer Picnic Food Safety

As the summer heats up, Minnesotans are getting outdoors and bringing out the picnic baskets. Carol Ann Burtness, a University of Minnesota Extension educator in Brainerd, says keeping food safe to eat is as simple as proper temperature control and washing your hands.

Bald Eagle No Longer an Endangered Species
