Julian Marshall, a University of Minnesota civil engineering professor, has studied population data and discovered that urban sprawl is leading people to settle on twice the amount of land as established residents.

A Billion Light-Years of Nothing Discovered

The "Manliness" Football Season Brings

Monday morning quarterbacks with all the answers, full tackle backyard games and paint on their chests -- itâ€™s football season and American men are touting the â€œmanlinessâ€? and toughness that the game requires. University of Minnesota sociologist Doug Hartmann has studied sports and gender and says men use sports, especially football, as a way to think about and develop their masculinity and sense of camaraderie.

Independence Lost: Cell Phones at College
