2006 Capital Bonding Request
The capital bonding bill authorizes nearly $1 billion in state spending. The appropriation for the University’s requested $206 million in state funding is $115.7 million. The Carlson School of Management, the Labovitz School of Business and Economics (UMD) and the Medical Biosciences Building would receive full funding; HEAPR is funded at $30 million ($80 million was requested); and of the regional centers and stations in the request, the Cedar Creek Natural History Area and the Cloquet Forestry Center each receive $500,000. The legislature also provided funding for a wind energy laboratory at the West Central Research and Outreach Center and a poultry testing lab in Willmar. (The Willmar Poultry Testing Laboratory is a joint lab facility shared by the Minnesota Board of Animal Health and the University that tests for bird diseases.)
