Peru - Manic Mannequins

The style of mannequins in some of the Cusco stores was peculiar: somewhat beat-up and laughing hysterically.

Peru - Cusco Costumes

Cusco is the Peruvian city where importuning of tourists is most notable - though not nearly so persistent or annoying as in India or Egypt. Women dress in colorful costumes and expect to be paid a dollar or so for their photos. Fairly or not, a telephoto lens gets the picture without the payment. Here are a couple of examples.

Peru - Cusco Church Interiors

The interiors of Cusco churches are notable for their elaboration and richness.

Peru - Cusco Plaza de Armas

We're just back from Peru, a wonderfully vivid, interesting, and picturesque country. We spent our time in Cusco, the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca, and Lima. Photos from all these places will follow in the next month or two.

(click to enlarge) We arrived in Cusco in the evening, and walked from our hotel to the main square, the Plaza de Armas. The arcades around the plaza were brightly lit, and the hills surrounding the central city sparkled.

Landscape Arboretum - Color and No Color

I thought I'd take some fresh spring colors and turn them to black and white.

This will be the last blog post until May 28, since I'm going to Peru. Hopefully, lots of interesting photos from that trip when I return.

In Spring, most things are going up; but a few branches going sideways provide a nice counterpoint.
