Polish Carpathians

20140609Carpathians091.jpg

Zakopane in southeastern Poland is the jumping-off place for the Carpathians (also called the Tatras) in Poland. This area, reached by funicular, is more like an amusement park than a mountain getaway.

The mountains, though, are pretty impressive.

Krakow Scenes

Today I'm beginning a series of photos from our recent trip to the Carpathian Mountains region of eastern Europe. We start with Krakow in Poland, but not the stereotypical "medieval city" views. Click photos to enlarge them.
