Gay couples going to Iowa to get married

Five gay couples are on a bus to Davenport Iowa so they can get married.

Fay and Julie King are one of the couples on the trip to Iowa to get married.

"I'm so excited, I can't even describe it," said Julie King. "It just means so much to us." WCCO

The couples are all member of All God's Children Church in South Minneapolis. KARE 11

However once the couples cross the border back into Minnesota Tuesday their will not be recognized.

"We've been together for 12 years," said Bob Maschka. For he and his partner, Glen Ernst, the next step does mean something, even if it's not legally binding. WCCO

The couples are getting married at a sister church of All God's Children in Davenport. They're returning Monday evening.
