The printer that was in the Reference Room (206) has been moved to the SMART Learning Commons (Room 204). The high-capacity printer that was in Room 204 has been moved to the Great Hall, near the Value Port and Copy Machine. The printer that is in the Great Hall looks similar to a copy machine. Signs will be posted clearly distinguishing the printer from the copier. Please refer patrons appropriately.
April was customer service month. As part of this, secret shoppers were sent to the libraries on campus to look for specific customer service qualities in the library staff. Shannon, Christina, Kim, and Kathryn were secret shopped, and demonstrated these qualities, scoring 9 or 10 out of 10. We were happy to present them their Customer Service Certificates for excellence. Great job! Keep up the good work!
I have an orientation meeting for my licensure program (master's program) on May 18th, so I would be extremely grateful if someone could cover for me from 11-3. Pretty please. With a cheery on top.
We will be recording Hourly Gate Counts Sunday, May 9 - Saturday, May15. Forms will be placed at each desk. Thanks for your help!

Thanks in advance and good luck on finals :)
Two of my finals got switched around so I was wondering if anyone would like to swap some shifts.
I can take any shifts that fall on the following days:
Sat (8th): anytime before 5pm
Sun (9th) : 12pm-6pm
Please let me know if it works out for anyone. Thanks.
Remember to stop by after 11am TODAY for some extra yummy treats to celebrate our graduates and wish everyone good luck on their finals!
Instant messaging has been installed on the desk computers for quick communication between library staff and the service desks (Circulation, Reference and SMART). If you receive messages please respond accordingly. Likewise, if you need to reach a library staff member or service desk you can use the chat feature as an option. We will be adding additional "buddies" this week. It will automatically start-up when the computers are turned on in the morning. You can also access it on the lower right-hand toolbar. Please try it out and let us know if you have questions.
First, I'd like to say, thank you! to everyone who recorded gate counts this month. Only one count was missed, a huge improvement over the previous months! Our total visits for April was 85,402. That's up from 84,528 last year. Our real numbers are actually probably higher than that, since there was an anomaly that threw out one whole day's worth of counts at the basement gate. On April 14 (Wed.), the gate counts jumped from 267191 to 2849. This equals a zero for that day since the Excel macro doesn't count negative numbers. I don't know why the gate did that. Did it get shut off that day? When the counts get up to 999,999, it jumps back to 0 and starts counting again, but the gate was nowhere near that. Mystery...
Please stop by and take a break from your day anytime after 11:00am on Wednesday, May 5. Join us in wishing congratulations to all of our graduates, and good luck to everyone on their finals. Cake and other treats will be provided behind the basement circulation desk!
