July 3rd

Hey everybody,

So I figure no one will really want to take this shift, but I would like to have an awesome 4th of July weekend at my friend's cabin that's quite a drive away and as such would like my shift on Sunday, July 3rd covered. It's from 12-6 and it's already on the board, so feel free to take it if you want to and I would be happy to switch shifts with you. Thanks and I hope everyone has a good Fourth regardless!

Hey all, so my mom and brother (who are from way out of town) are coming to visit me in a couple of weeks. They will be here on Tuesday, June 28th and I would really like someone to cover my shift for me from 1-5 that day. It's been on the tradeboard for a while, so anyone can grab it. I've picked up pretty much all of the shifts on there that I am able to, but I would definitely owe you one.

Also, not as crucial, but I work all weekend during Pride, and I'd really like to have Sunday, June 26th off so I can volunteer with people at my internship to staff a booth there, and see the parade of course. My shift that day is from 12-6.

Thanks in advance,

Alexa

Pick Up B & 2

Just a reminder when doing Pick Up on the lower levels to check the out side aisles. There are tables and chairs along the wall that can have items on them and it is important to get them cleaned up and re-shelved. If you have any questions, please talk to a supervisor.

Great news! We are one week away from treats! Keep up the amazing work and next Friday we will have treats.

I wanted to give an update on how Operation Enduring Liberty is going. Since May 16, when we started counting the 2 week period, we have only had 2 days that have been free from mistakes. Each time mistakes are found, the count for 2 weeks is started over again.

The type of mistakes that I am finding are simple errors that make me believe that shelving is going too fast or your mind is on something else. When you are shelving, go slow enough to make sure that the item is in the correct location and take a quick scan over the shelf to make sure that everything is in correct call number order. I would rather have you go slow and make sure that items are in the correct call number order than go fast and make errors. When items are shelved in the correct location, patrons can find them, we will have less search requests for items, and when you page items you will be able to find them in the correct location.

Here are a few examples of some of the mistakes I have found. If you have questions, please talk to a supervisor. Going over LCEasy again can help to if you have questions.

Item in front: QC173.4 .C74 M3
Item Checked: QC173.4 .M48 P76 2003
Item behind: 173.4 .C74 N38 1983
In this case the .C74 was missed on the items in front and behind. I found the .M in the .C

Item in front: Q143 .H5 H48
Item Checked: Q143 .H5 H47 1993
Items should have been flip flopped. Item checked was one off.

Item in front: QE28.2 .V58
Item Checked: QE28.3 .W53 1989
Item behind: QE28.3 .W53 2000 end of shelf
Next Item: QE28.3 .C65 1997 New shelf
In this case, it shows how important it is to look at the start of the next row. The 2000 copy may have been mis-shelved already, but scanning the shelves to double check would have caught this error.

Hi everybody,

One of my best friends is getting married next Saturday, and as I am in the wedding, I will be attending the rehearsal dinner that Friday, June 17th. The shift I will need covered is 2-6PM on Friday. It's really easy, as not a lot of people are coming in Friday night to do research. All B-desk work. Please let me know if any of you can swing it.

Think about all of the wondrous things you could do with that four more hours of pay! Why, that four hours could buy you an Unlimited Ride wristband at Nickelodeon Universe (formerly Camp Snoopy). Imagine the possibilities!

Thanks in advance, and the hours are on the board,

Tim E.

Once again, I have a weekend I need to go out of town. My boyfriend's sister is getting married in Wisconsin and I really need these covered. I'll swap sometime in that pay period.

Thursday July 21 12-9pm. This is not as crucial, but I could switch shifts that day as long as I was done by 3 or 4 so I could still catch the megabus. If not, I'll settle for leaving Friday morning.

But I really need these two covered:
Sunday July 24 12-6 pm
Monday July 25 7:45-5 pm

I think I'll try to come back to Minneapolis on Monday morning, so I could try to switch and take an evening shift, or a few hours after 4.

I'll put them on the board, and online when available. Let me know! I'll owe you big time!
Taylor

I know this is crazy short notice, but I was sick last Thursday, and my teacher will only let me make up the quiz I missed on Monday at 12:30 (and the class is in St. Paul.) I'm unfortunately scheduled to work 10:00-1:00 on that day, so if someone could cover like from 11:45-1:00 that would help me out so much. If you want the whole shift that's fine, its just really pretty crucial that I get that part covered, its a pretty big chunk of my grade.

Thanks,

Alexa

I meant Saturday June 25th as the day I need off for my Outlaw Days trip home, not July.

Shifts to swap!

I, too, have some shifts way off in the distance that I would like to offer. I will post them on the board as well as the online trade board when that's available. First off, on Tuesday July 19th, I work 10-7. Alas, my mother is coming to town that day for a Twins game that evening. I would be willing to trade with anyone that works that morning or if someone could just take the 3-7 of that shift, that would be wonderful. On Saturday July 25th I work 10:45-6, but it's is my hometown's "days" that weekend, and when you're from a small town, our Outlaw Days are a very big deal. Sign up for these shifts or bargain with me for some swapping! Thanks!

Alyse

Hey everyone, I have a couple Friday shifts that I need to either trade or give away. I am willing to take a weekend shift or two but I can't do it the same weekend as these. I could also take Monday mornings, some Wednesday mornings/early afternoons or close Thursday night if needed.

The Friday, June 10th shift is 11-6 and the July 8th shift is 7:45-5 (Break 1-2) which could easily be broken into 2 shorter shifts. Both shifts are on the trade board behind the basement desk and will also be up on whentowork when possible.

Thanks,
Micah
