anatomy of a poster

I was scrolling through poster's when i came across this one. Right away it popped out at me probably due to those awesome colors. It has this pure untouched feeling to it especially that pink and blue combo, very harmonious. It's a very simple poster that allows the image to do most of the work. it has a simple font, organized in an easy to read hierarchy form. It would only take the viewer a few seconds to understand the information of the poster, but the image is intriguing enough where they will take the time to appreciate it. The image has a very brockmann feel to and if the viewer is able to make that connection than the poster becomes ten times stronger. I would like this kind of poster even without the text 10/10 in my book.

This particular poster I was trying to convey the message of progression. When you first look at it you see three ambiguous figures. You are unable to tell if they are men, woman, white, black etc., but you do make the connection that these forms are human. Which is important because at the end of the day that all we are, human. The first three figures each have a color that comes from the ribbons found on the design 21 website. This is to help create the feeling of equality as well as empower the rapprochement idea. These first three forms have unique qualities that branch off and help build the future, which is represented in the last form. A human combined of all qualities needed for a success and a better tomorrow.

This particular poster I was trying to convey the e=idea of exchanging point of views with different people. The poster does this in a literal fashion by having the eye's of different cultures being exchanged between two people. Also the eyes are intended to push forward the message to not only see with our eyes but to use all our senses. Including your mind and heart.

Advertising humor can be extraordinarily effective when it is used correctly. People will actually look for your ads, and talk about them if they are good. Comedy helps people relax and create a more approachable atmosphere. Taking a well known ad campaign such as the i pod ads and using it a completely different way not only catches the eye it makes people see the original ad in a completely different way forever.anatomy1.pdf

the thing with design is that it's universal. This poster is similar to anything you might see in the states. Two recognizable symbols.

Poster

What stuck out to me in this reading is Communication. It's the main goal of a designer, to convey a message, to create a bridge from the message to the specific audience. Also as a graphic designer to be aware of the ever changing technology and not letting the unlimited potential effect your message in a negative way.

what i take away from this article is that it encourages the reader or designer to take advantage of charity designing projects. Even if the pay is small or there is no pay at all it not only gives the designer experience but it promotes a cause. it can be challenging to work with limited space and limited budget, but these factors at the end of the day shape you into becoming a better designer. Also take risks in your designing it can pay off in the end.
