What are the major advantages and disadvantages of "interpretive sociology" according to Giddens? Can you demonstrate a few of those advantages and disadvantages in a social life example?
On p. 229, Giddens writes: "The realm of human agency is bounded. Men produce society, but they do so as historically located actors, and not under conditions of their choosing." What do you think Giddens mean by that? Can you provide examples from historical/present day social events that will support or criticize what Giddens argue here?
What do you think Giddens point of view on agency-structure duality? How do you relate this point of view to to Marx, Weber and Foucault? What are major similarities and differences between Giddens and those theorists we covered earlier?
