Holy Portion Size BATMAN!!!

As we arrived on US soil, we first landed in Chicago. And what do you order in Chicago?! Well a deep-dish pizza of course! Walking through the airport, I stopped at a pizza restaurant. I decided to order a personal size pizza and a coke "light." The pizza was ordered just fine, but the cashier looked at me funny when I said I wanted a coke "light" then realized that its called a DIET coke here in the states!

After a quick wait, I received my pizza and drink, only to do a double-take! I couldn't believe the portion sizes here in comparison to South Africa! The personal pizza was the size of a medium pizza in Cape Town. The soda was a 20 oz soda, and in Cape Town, the drink sizes at the restaurants never reached that size. Needless to say, I consumed half the drink and half the pizza, only to get sick on the plane ride from Chicago to Minneapolis.

After a few days of being back in the country, I have finally come to grips that American portion sizes are definitely unnecessary! I always knew portion sizes were a bit over-the-top, but it took a trip across the the world to see the difference!

From the moment I came back to the states, I have been very careful about the amount of food I eat and I have really noticed a difference!
