Blog as Pedagogical Development

I tried something new not that long ago (which some of my readers know about), and that was using a blog to develop a class. I would post thoughts, ideas, and whatever else was included in the general formation of a class.

It was such a helpful experiment that I am going to start doing it in this blog, which is my main "professional" outlet.

The things I found useful about it was it led to a more cohesive class (I let ideas percolate for awhile before I decided on them), it left a virtual paper trail of how I designed it (which led to interesting introspections about myself as an instructor), and it was viewable by others in the field (both students and colleagues communicated with me while it was in development, which was most helpful).

So, while I hate to clutter this space with that, it IS my blog, and I'll do as I want!

Stay tuned.
