Posting Images to the Blog

That's a picture of my dog, a greyhound named Betty.
To answer a comment of Brandon's: Yes!! anyone can post pictures to the blog. This blog is mainly a place to find out about work related information, but who says it can't be fun?! I think it would be great if anyone wants to post fun pics or a funny rant every so often.
Simply:
1. Email the picture to Margaret at ostr0067@umn.edu along with any text you would like posted with it.
2. I will post the picture within one or two days, as soon as I can get to it.
If possible, make sure the picture is an appropriate size & cropped well. For example, the dog picture above is width217xheight162. The newspaper clip art below is 92x81. The fruit picture is 400x202.
Just like anything written on the blog, pictures must be in good taste. If you're unsure about whether it's appropriate for the blog, it probably isn't. Feel free to run any questionable pics by Margaret or other full-time staff.
Images we will not post to the blog include:
1. pictures taken of people without their consent or knowledge that they would be posted on the Internet (including such pictures of staff or library users)
2. images protected by copy right
3. sexually graphic materials
4. images containing offensive language (swear words) or hate speech (slurs)
5. those counter to the mission of the Libraries or the University
These are also rules that should govern what is written in the blog.
Note: The reason that you can't directly post pictures is that the image file must be saved on the local computer to be uploaded to the blog. The only way to do this on "charlie" and "emilio" is to save the image file to the desktop. We do not want the desktop cluttered with these files, so it's best to email to staff and we will post for you. This system is in place because of these technical restrictions, NOT because we feel we need to review images before they are posted.
