Summer Break & Fall Schedules

It's time to fill out new availability sheets for the time starting August 6 until the fall. There are forms on the cart by my desk.
Also there are forms for the fall. Just leave the completed forms on my desk.
Please fill them out as soon as possible, you have a better chance of getting the shifts you want the sooner they come in.

Looking ahead ~

Before you all dash away for the summer, please let me know, in writing, your schedule for the Fall 2007 semester.

Indicate all days and hours you will not be available to work. Include weekends, and also, if there's a number of hours and/or times of day that you prefer to work, please indicate that as well. Obviously things may change before you return in the fall, but I'd like to get a preliminary sense of what kind of hours you're hoping to work.

As always, we can't guarantee that we will be able to set your schedule exactly as you would like it, but we will try to accommodate you as much as we can.

Finally, please make sure we have up-to-date phone numbers and addresses from all of you (to mail final checks).

All students please comment that you have reviewed this post.

Thanks!

I've tried to catch most of you on the fly to find out whether you have conflicts for finals week and it seems by and large that most of you will be able to work your regular shifts. Some notable exceptions are:

Still available:

Darin V. still needs a sub for Saturday the 12th, 12:00-2:30 (desk)

Adam: needs a sub for Saturday the 12th, 1:30-3:30

Darin V.: needs a sub for Thursday the 10th from 4:20-7:00 (desk) Marge will be taking this shift ~ thanks, Marge!;

Marge: needs a sub for Friday the 11th 1:00-5:00 Maggie will be taking this shift ~ thanks, Maggie!

Justin: needs a sub for Monday the 7th, 1:30-3:30 Daryn C will be taking this shift ~ thanks, Daryn!

If anyone would like to take any of these shifts, please let me or Laurie know as soon as possible. Also, if anyone has conflicts next week for which you have not notified me, please do so right away.

The reserve desk is open regular hours all week. We are closed on Sunday the 13th. I will be posting a tentative schedule for May-Summer hours soon. Anyone who wants to work through May term (after May 13th), but won't be here during the summer, please let me know. Available hours may be quite limited.

Good luck preparing for your finals, everybody!

Hi everyone, I have a saturday shift that is up for grabs. The first one to take it is the winner. I will be out of town this saturday, so I can't make it, but I'm sure it will be a thrilling shift! It is a desk shift from noon-2:30ish, the shift is over when Maggie arrives. Have a good weekend everyone!

There has been a schedule change on Sundays. The new schedule is posted in the office.

Student Supervisor Job Description

Click Here to Open Student Supervisor Job Description

As most of you know, we are changing things up a bit for the fall in terms of weekend staffing at Wilson Periodicals and Course Reserve. This means an opportunity for leadership (not to mention a higher pay rate) for three student supervisors. We are not posting these positions and plan to hire from within the existing pool of student workers. This includes those of you who are working this summer as well as others who are returning in the Fall.

We plan to do 15 minute interviews with everyone who is interested. These will take place the week of August 7. We will try to work these brief interviews into your normally scheduled shifts. We will do them in a private room outside of the office. We'll do phone interviews if interested candidates are not in town this summer or not available that week.

Please let me know if you have questions. We will be considering everyone who has expressed interest in being a candidate for this position. Our decision will be based on the basic and preferred qualifications outlined in the job description. To assess who is the best candidate for the job, we will be looking at past work performance, level of experience working in the unit, information from the interview, and scheduling availability for Fall semester. Out of these factors, past work performance is the most important factor we will consider.

We recognize that some of the duties outlined in the job description may be unfamiliar areas to some students. Do not let this discourage you. We expect to provide training so that the lead students selected are able to perform all duties well.

Students, you cannot comment to this post. Instead, talk to a staff supervisor directly with questions or for more information.
