I found the article about the lack of great women artists kind of confusing, but that’s probably because I didn’t know a majority of the artists referred to, male or female. Even so, I think it raised some good points…or the obvious one: why aren’t there GREAT women artists? The greatest female public figure I could think of is Oprah Winfrey, but she’s not exactly an artist by the classical definition. The only women who are well-known for their art are movie stars or musical performers. But when I go to museums, I see paintings by women…what about Georgia O’Keefe? And also, I didn’t understand the comment about the aristocracy not generating “great” artists. I guess I could say I am fairly uneducated when it comes to knowing the names and classes of artists though. Anyways, I feel that women are attempting to “infiltrate” all areas where men have dominated in the past…who knows, maybe Hillary Clinton will be the next president! Or OPRAH!

Oprah among others is a true inspiration to me daily, and thats not only because i watch her everyday but because her shows deal with real issues, that i feel give me a better social conscience. Oprah is a women of great strength and power, that uses her wealth to bring happiness to all, whether through making their wildest dreams come true or repairing hearts and homes in times of disaster.( did anyone see the show about fistula's and Dr. Hamlin, amazing women making an actual difference daily) I hold Oprah in great esteem and would without a doubt vote for her as president!
