Required Qualifications:

The Preferred candidate will have:

- Excellent writing and proofreading skills
- Strong computer skills and aptitude with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Excellent organization and task management capability, able to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision while consistently meeting deadlines
- Basic to intermediate web editing experience, basic understanding of HTML and web programming; and past experience with a content management system (CMS)

Duties/Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities:
The web communications intern will assist the Web Communications Team with a range of web development projects, including migrating sites into a set of new templates. This intern will gain hands-on experience and create portfolio materials for a future career in new media or website development. Specifically, the web communications intern will:

20% Optimize images for web use with image editing software
45% Update AHC web sites using UM Content, the University's content management system
10% Verify content metadata following established standards; make updates as needed
10% Assist with gathering of analytics data and preparation of website usage reports
10% Create sitemaps
5% Other duties as assigned

Program/Unit Description: The AHC Office of Communications provides communications services to the Office of the Vice President for Health Sciences as well as the schools and colleges of nursing, public health, pharmacy, dentistry, medicine, and veterinary medicine.
