Required Qualifications: Current undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Business, Marketing, Public Relations or related field. Strong writing, time management and interpersonal skills are a must. Must be comfortable working in Microsoft Office Suite programs.

Must be able to work extra hours during State Fair - August 23-Sept. 3. Hours are flexible Monday-Friday, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., but must be in 3-4 hour blocks of time over the noon hour. Five Monday evenings are required in the fall and winter to staff Mini Medical School.

Preferred Qualifications: We are looking for a trustworthy, self-starter who is excited to engage in a variety of communication activities, someone who is comfortable handing phones and inquiries from the general public. One year paid or volunteer experience that includes administration and event planning would be a plus.

Duties/Responsibilities: The AHC Office of Communications is looking for an energetic and outgoing student communication assistant to support the administrative and community relations functions of the office.

Duties/Responsibilities: Assist the AHC Office of Communications staff by supporting administrative management and logistics of various programs and events including:

Answering department phones, updating database, Web research, writing, and supporting all aspects of events such as Mini Medical School, Minnesota State Fair, special conferences, outreach efforts and community programs.

Program/Unit Description: The Academic Health Center Office of Communications provides strategic communications support for the Office of the Senior Vice President for Health Sciences as well as the schools and colleges of nursing, medicine, pharmacy, public health, veterinary medicine, and dentistry.
