surviving the holidays

In the movie When Harry Met Sally... we are treated to the following exchange:

Harry: Boy, the holidays are rough. Every year I just try to get from the day before Thanksgiving to the day after New Years.

Sally: A lot of suicides.

Harry: Hmm.

We made it through!

Ah yes, we survived. To fool ourselves into believing that we're having a wonderful time, we eat too much, drink too much, and spend way too much. Then, we start another new year feeling lousy and vowing to lose weight and save more. (But we buy expensive gym memberships that we don't use after the first week, etc)

Can we change the subject already? I'm so done with the holidays.
