Next Minnesota Gophers football coach is chosen

Northern Illinois football coach Jerry Kill has been selected as the new University of Minnesota head football coach.

His official introduction to the university will be held Dec. 6 at the TCF Bank Stadium. Athletic director Joel Maturi has been interviewing several coaches since the firing of Tim Brewster on Oct. 17, said the Star Tribune.

Kill's season at Illinois ended in 10-3 and he was ranked 25th before losing to Miami on Friday at the Mid-American Conference title game, said the Pioneer Press.
