They don't give the child mandatory counseling (even if the odds are remote that a child is not telling the truth they still need help to find out why they are), and lastly, they make those who step forward and report abuse feel like the abusers themselves. I would think twice before I talked to Dawn over at Child Services in Washington County again. When all options are exhausted (the options are not that great), advocacy groups then teach a child how to protect themselves against the grown adult (usually a male). I would like to see a voice given to those without one. What happens when you are a child, doesn't magically disappear when you become an adult. How can a 13 year old girl not have to go and see her dad who touches her whenever they are alone? What can she do when child services says she's lying or not telling the whole truth? When she starts cutting, why don't they take her serious then? What can she do, so she no longer has to be abused? She turns 14 soon. Hopefully the damage isn't too great by now
